Now in its third year, the DMVC has expanded the program offerings to include comprehensive coverage for both architectural design professionals and architectural visualization artists. While catering to both fields in the industry, the conference program will provide insight into the convergence of the two and help decision makers determine the path forward.
With a solid track record of obtaining upwards of 300 attendees at each conference, this year’s conference will be no exception. The added programming and broader audience will allow sponsors to engage with decision makers and practitioners from some of the top firms in the industry. Scheduled for the two days preceding the annual AIA conference in Boston, the VisMasters DMVC makes for an inspiring and thought provoking week.If we think about the causes of Global Warming, firstly we think about CO gas release to the air that resulted from burning process of motor vehicle, and others. But the fact is architecture itself also supports in increasing CO2 and the other gas and consume nonrenewable energy, the architects are seemed not concern with the impact resulted by the construction process of their design to the environment. The architects seem to compete in producing architecture creation and local cultural and also too rely on non renewable energy consumption in large amount, either in the construction period of the operational period. It refers to designing building planning by putting first the visual pleasure and complex building form without looking of the dwelling environment.
For example, in tropical area such as Indonesia, in the operational period to get building visual and thermal pleasure by using AC(Air Conditionning) and high consuming lamps as the solution of the design, where as to get those thermal and usual comfort can be gained by using energy from nature like gaining temperature humidity and optimal illumination level.
In the construction period, material usage which are using lot of kerosene as fuel on the material production process and gasoline for transportation process because the distance between material production location and the building were far away.
When an Architect designs a building and chooses material usage, it means that the architect is responsible for energy which is consummated by the building. Then using many kinds of technology which are consuming lot of nonrenewable energy, it would be wiser if we design by using energy which is available on the nature, minimizing waste product in the construction process and minimizing materials that use burning process. In the other words, start to design building that can adapt with nature.
Need you to know:
Energy cannot be created and also cannot be demolished. So form transition of energy from one form into the other does not change the quantity volume globally.
The first law of Thermodynamics: Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but instead is transformed into different forms. What it means, the amount of energy that existed had to equal to the amount of energy that transformed.
The second law Thermodynamics: determined to the quality of energy (also known as energy) in a system. What it means, the quality of energy that transformed had to be higher that the quality of energy that available, for example.
The fourth Law of Thermodynamics; organized to keep in the system for as long as possible. What it means, do not produce the waste resources, therefore used ‘waste’ as ‘food’ for manufacturing resources is the most effective way to fully utilize energy quality.

“Will you show me a few samples of your ideas for my project so I can get a feel for your work?”
My answer is always no. we has a great entry about spec work in graphic design, and in short: don’t do it. You should be able to refer potential clients to your portfolio to get a feel for the type and quality of the work you do. If your portfolio feels thin, offer to do some pro-bono work for a cause you believe in, or rework pieces you’ve done that that didn’t make the portfolio cut.
In order to explain what spec work is, imagine this scenario:
I went for a dental check-up yesterday. After the dentist inspected my teeth, she suggested some work to prevent further tooth decay. I told her to go ahead, and if the dental work was satisfactory, I’d be more than happy to pay. She responded that she wouldn’t be able to do that, because she normally provides a service when a fee is agreed upon up-front. I said I’d let her know after I checked in with other local dentists.
Sure, this scenario is unlikely. When you visit the dentist, an appropriate rate of pay is expected for professional services. Yet every day, graphic design professionals are asked to provide free services in the hope of being paid if the result is acceptable. It’s called speculative work, or free pitching, ’spec’ for short, and is considered unethical among leading graphic design associations around the world.
Design contests and spec work can be frustrating for designers, who feel the value of their profession is not understood. In a speculative scenario, the graphic designer is chosen for the product produced, and not for the service offered. Graphic design is not a commodity. If graphic design becomes a commodity, then the designers’ role in the spectrum of business services will be greatly reduced. Personally, I don’t undertake spec work, and have published this blog post to educate those potential clients who ask me about it.

Perhaps at the first time, people will look at the first form sketch as something complicated to be understood. It is often happened, more than one sketch – in a messy group – perspective, view, plan, and details are collapsing each other. An architect always knows that the planning idea that goes through his brain must be caught on the paper so that it will not be just forgotten by, and become planning that just loss by.
In other side, the idea can be priced million dollars. This idea sketch drawing which is later becomes “shortcut” or quickly way to a bigger scenario in the architect brain. We ever heard an Architecture Institute student said “why building which got award as level as Guggenheim came from complicated messy free-hand sketch. The answer was so simple, according to us, the sketch could look like a mess but what in his mind of course more than that, and the most important thing was the sketch on these cheap papers was a mystical connection way between imagination and real world.
Pretty wonder it was, the sketch become some kind of top of the ice mountain which appeared only a little of its part above the water. After this hard time could be passed, then the next step was smoothing the planning idea using computer software. We have option that the development of architectural form nowadays as not disconnected with computer technology availability. Without computer aided design, catia etc, there wouldn’t be spectacular design trendsetter like FrankGehty’s, Coop Himmelblau’s, Libelskind’s etc because it was impossible those Architectural work that got many world appreciations were product of drawing machine and drawing desk without computer help. So did Frank Gehry and Coop Himmelblau couldn’t be this survive without big team that supported them in visualizing the idea from principal architect freehand sketch.
and the conclusion is :
Don’t let our knowledge limit about architectural design software become a barrier for our creativity of planning idea. For instance, we wanted to make one corner of our building in a conical form while at other corner we wanted to put at an angle. More specific, Architecture Institute student often said that “actually form which I meant was not this simple, but because I didn’t know how to draw it using computer software, so my creation become less dynamic form”
